Re-admission following a break in study

Past postgraduate students planning to return to complete their masters or doctoral studies after a break in study of at least one (1) academic year due to any reasons including academic exclusion should submit their application for re-admission through the University online portal for consideration for re-admission. This does not apply to students who have been duly granted Leave of Study. If you are returning following break in study due to academic exclusion, you are advised to complete a re-admission form (downloaded here) and submit it together with your supporting documents on the University online application portal.

Shelf-Life of Courses: further, all past postgraduate students planning to return to complete their masters or doctoral studies after a break in study are reminded that courses completed at this or another institution for which credit has been granted will normally be valid for a period of four (4) years from the date on which the course was passed. Applications for exemption should be duly motivated and will be considered by Faculty on a case by case basis.

Enquiries in this regard should be sent to reception.civileng@wits.ac.za.
