Do you have a flair for problem solving, reasoning and analysis? Are you fascinated by how money actually does make the world go round? Then a career in Economics might be perfect for you!

Businesses, organisations and citizens are all affected by both their country’s economy and what happens globally, so every BCom student undertakes at least one year of study in Economics.

Would you make a good Economist?

You may want to consider studying economics if you possess several of the following interests, qualities and talents:

  • A flair for, or good grounding, in mathematics
  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • The ability to reason logically
  • An interest in and the capacity to work with both abstract concepts and models and their application to “messy” realities
  • Effective communication skills – both verbal and written, and
  • An interest in how money and resources can affect and shape the world we live in
