Masters and PhD in Deaf Education by Dissertation/Thesis

Admission Requirements

For admission to these programmes, the student usually identifies a research area and consults with a potential supervisor (or a committee of supervisors) with expertise in the proposed area of research. Once the student and potential supervisor/s are satisfied that the proposed project is viable, the student submits an application. When the School in which the student is based (e.g. School of Education) has accepted the student, then the student may formally enrol. Milestones will be set in the programme for the submission of the Proposal/Thesis. For full-time students, the proposal must be submitted to Faculty Office within 6 (six) months after enrolment. For part-time students, the proposal must be submitted to Faculty Office within 12 (twelve) months of enrolment.

The Faculty of Humanities Rules and Syllabuses booklet provides detailed information on entrance requirements, special provisions and all rules pertaining to Graduate programmes. It is up to all students to acquaint themselves with the sections in this rule book relevant to their proposed programme of study at the University of the Witwatersrand.
