The Constitution

The Constitution is the supreme law of the land. Therefore, any law or government action that is inconsistent with the Constitution can be challenged and declared invalid by the Constitutional Court. Thus, our center CALS is a human rights organization and make use a combination of research, advocacy and litigation to advance social justice.

Mercantile Law

The Wits School of Law mercantile law curriculum plays a vital role in preparing future legal practitioners to address complex global challenges. This education is not only beneficial to our students but extended to graduates and legal practitioners who wish to gain new knowledge or update their skills through short courses offered at the Mandela Institute.

Law & Litigation

We offer a strong tradition of legal service to the community and through our institution Wits Law Clinic by proving access to justice to those who are indigent. The Wits Law Clinic offers Practical Legal Studies course where our final year students are provided with the opportunity to apply their classroom knowledge in a practical setting under the supervision of qualified attorneys.
