VoW FM named Campus Station of the Year

Voice of Wits FM has distinguished itself as the best campus station at the 2024 Telkom Radio Awards where they scooped five awards.
The winners of the 2024 Telkom Radio Awards were announced in Sandton on 30 November, when the South African radio industry gathered to celebrate another year of excellence in broadcasting.
The Awards, now in their 14th year acknowledge not only the on-air personalities, but also the unsung heroes working behind the scenes to deliver engaging, informative, and entertaining radio content.
VoW FM was nominated in 14 categories and walked away with five awards including the coveted Campus Station of the Year 2024.
The award for the best Campus Breakfast Show went to VOW Breakfast with Valerie Magetlaneng and Kirsten Dickinson who are both Wits Alumnus, the Best Drive Time presenter went to Ricardo Genesis Nhlapo, the Best Night-time show was awarded to VOW Breaking Ground with Xolani Baloyi claimed while the Best Weekend Show was VOW Top 30 with Thabo George Mosima.
Station Manager, Martin Vilakazi commented that this is the first time that VoW FM has topped others as the Campus Station of the Year since it was launched.
“This goes to show that what we do at the station really matters. Winning Campus Station of the Year in Telkom Radio Awards, confirms that VOW has turned the corner. We are finally in the space where we belong.”
"The station recently received a brand facelift to align with the core of what we do as youth station. We remain committed to young people and our mandate as a community radio station," said Vilakazi who also thanked listeners and partners for their role adding that the accolades belong to all.
