Afretec Network celebrates Inclusion Champions

Among the recipients of the 2025 awards are Associate Professor Eunice Nyamupangedengu, Director of the Marang Centre in the School of Education.

Nyamupangedengu are among five winners from across Africa to win Afretec Inclusion Champion Awards this year. She directs the the Marang Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology (MST) Education that advances research and creating knowledge in Mathematics, Science and Technology Education.

Afretec Inclusion Champions are prestigious awards that recognise individuals and teams who have contributed outstandingly to promoting inclusion and diversity in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) outreach, education, research, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

  • The African Engineering and Technology Network (Afretec) is a pan-African collaboration of technology-focused universities from across the continent, led by Carnegie Mellon University Africa. It is a platform for these universities to drive inclusive digital growth by collaborating on teaching and learningknowledge creation, and entrepreneurship activities within the area of engineering and technology. The network is intentional about embedding diversity, equity, and inclusion in all processes and activities.
