School of Business Sciences honours top students in annual prizegiving

The School of Business Sciences held its prestigious annual Prize-Giving Ceremony to honour top-performing students - celebrating academic excellence.

The event began with a warm welcome from Professor Jason Cohen, Dean of the Faculty of Commerce, Law, and Management. He emphasized the importance of recognizing academic achievements, acknowledging the hard work of students and staff, and the support from sponsors, families, and friends. He also highlighted the significance of graduating from a leading African institution and encouraged graduates to use their education to address societal challenges such as corruption, inequality, and environmental issues, stressing the importance of integrity and leadership.

 Mr. Mitchell Hughes, a lecturer and former Acting Head of School, served as Programme Director, adding depth and insight to the event. Awards were presented by division heads and sponsors in key disciplines like Information Systems, Insurance and Risk Management, Human Resources Management, and Marketing Management. A standout moment was when Samantha Luthuli received five awards for her academic excellence, Debra Williams and Kyle Inderpersad who scooped three awards each.

The ceremony featured The 雷速体育_雷速体育直播 Choice Awards, presented by the School of Business Sciences 雷速体育_雷速体育直播 Council, recognizing the best academic staff and administrator. Brian Makena, the undergraduate administrative officer, won the administrative staff award. The Best Academic 雷速体育_雷速体育直播 2023 went to Neetu Ramsaroop, Pinkie Segodi, Khosi Radebe and for the second time in a row, Melissa Zulu.

Professor Helen Duh, Head of the School of Business Sciences, delivered the vote of thanks, expressing her gratitude to sponsors, the school, and students for their contributions to the event's success.

The annual Prize-Giving Breakfast remains a cherished tradition, celebrating the achievements of students and the support of the dedicated staff.
