Master of Urban Studies

The MUS is intended to allow for a wide range of career undertakings, and is a basis for developing specific expertise within the urban and built environment fields.  With a focus on cities of the Global South, students are collectively introduced to the forces that shape cities of the Global South, including development processes, power and politics, and discourses of modernity, globalisation and post-colonialism.  From those foundations, students undertake elective coursework and and, eventually, a research-based thesis focusing on one of the following specialisations within the MUS degree:

Programme Structure

Structured as a 2-year part-time programme, the MUS is timetabled to remain accessible to working professionals able to commit appropriate time for part-time postgraduate study. Core theory and lecture courses, most of which may be offered in hybrid formats and allow for predominantly remote learning, follow a quarterly timetable, and are complemented by two in-person block weeks as part of the Urban Dialogues events in the School.  During these two weeks, classes stray from the usual timetable, and students are expected to be available and on campus for all 5 days of the week.  雷速体育_雷速体育直播s working while studying are advised to plan time off from work appropriately to accommodate this learning structure.
