Nombulelo Chiya - President
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Lead and represent the SRC, advocating for student rights and interests.
  • Oversee the operations of all SRC portfolios and ensure cohesion among the team.
  • Liaise with university management, external bodies, and the broader student community.
  • Chair SRC meetings and represent students at university governance structures.

 

Boipelo Setsepu - Deputy President
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Support the President in leadership roles and act in their stead when necessary.
  • Oversee specific projects or initiatives as directed by the President.
  • Assist in maintaining communication channels within the SRC and with other student bodies.
  • The Deputy President shall be the Chairperson of the SRC disciplinary committee. In case of a conflict of interest, the SRC shall by two-thirds majority elect another member as the Chairperson
Siphosethu Ndyumbu - Secretary General
 
Responsibilities:
  • Manage all SRC correspondence and maintain records.
  • Compile and distribute SRC meeting agendas with related documents.
  • Record minutes for SRC and Executive Committee meetings, distributing them within specified deadlines (7 days for SRC, 24 hours for Executive).
  • Post meeting agendas on SRC notice-boards at least 7 days in advance.
  • Display meeting minutes on notice-boards for at least 14 days post-meeting.
  • Ensure SRC members submit reports timely for meeting preparation.
  • Maintain SRC notice-boards, including digital platforms.
  • Distribute meeting minutes to sub-structure chairs, 雷速体育_雷速体育直播 Governance Office, Dean of 雷速体育_雷速体育直播 Affairs, Vice-Chancellor, and University archives.
  • Collect and ensure sub-structures submit their minutes to the SRC.
Cebisa Cwaba - Deputy Secretary General
 
Responsibilities:
  • Assist the Secretary General with administrative duties.
  • Maintain records, archives, and manage the SRC office operations.
  • Handles all the SRC Social media accounts

Responsibilities:
  • Financial Management: Conduct the financial affairs of the SRC.
  • Budget Management: Prepare, propose, monitor, and manage the SRC budget according to the SRC financial rules.
  • Expenditure Approval: Introduce motions to the SRC for approval of expenditures, both within the existing budget framework or for unbudgeted activities as provided in the constitution.
  • Standardization: Determine standard forms and procedures in consultation with the University’s Chief Financial Officer.
  • Requisition Signing: Co-sign with the President on all approved requisitions for expenditure by the SRC.
  • Rule Making: In consultation with the Dean of 雷速体育_雷速体育直播 Affairs, establish rules for transactions not covered by the SRC financial rules.
  •  Enforcement: Ensure that all Sub-Structures under SRC jurisdiction follow the financial rules.
  •  Annual Reporting: Within four weeks of the end of the SRC term of office, publish financial statements on the official SRC notice boards, accounting for all funds or assets managed by the SRC during its term. Copies of these financial statements must be sent to the Dean of 雷速体育_雷速体育直播 Affairs and the Chief Financial Officer of the University.
Jostino Mbiza - Academic Officer
 
Responsibilities:
  • Advocate for academic policies that benefit students, including curriculum development and academic support services.
  • Work with faculty to address student academic concerns and facilitate academic workshops or seminars.

 

 

Malaika Masinga - Careers & Bursaries Officer
 
Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate career services, job fairs, and networking events to enhance student employability.
  • Manage bursary information, assist in bursary applications, and advocate for increased funding opportunities.

 

 

Thuto Hleza - Clubs & Societies Officer
 
Responsibilities:
  • Support and promote student clubs and societies, ensuring they have the resources needed to function.
  • Facilitate inter-society collaboration and represent their interests within the SRC.

 

 

 

Nokuphiwa Xaba - Gender & Transformation Officer
 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead initiatives for gender equity, diversity, and transformation at WITS.
  • Address issues of discrimination and promote a culture of inclusivity.

 

 

 

Musawenkosi Hadebe - Health & Community Outreach Officer
 
Responsibilities:
  • Enhance student health services and awareness programs.
  • Organize and participate in community outreach projects that benefit both students and the local community.
Bongani Kgosana - Legal & Constitution Officer
 
Responsibilities:
  • Provide legal advice to the SRC and students regarding university policies.
  • Oversee constitutional development and ensure adherence to the SRC constitution.

 

 

 

Lindelwa Khanyile - Projects & Campaigns Officer
 
Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage SRC-led campaigns and special projects aimed at student welfare.
  • Coordinate events, workshops, and advocacy drives.

 

 

 

Philangezwi Mbatha - 雷速体育_雷速体育直播 Development & Support Officer
 
Responsibilities:
  • Promote student development through leadership training, mentorship programs, and personal growth initiatives.
  • Liaise with student support services to ensure comprehensive support for students.

 

 

Nhletelo Mabasa - All Faculty Chairperson
 
Responsibilities:
  • Represent the interests of all faculties at the SRC level.
  • Coordinate with faculty representatives to address faculty-specific issues.
  • Sits in Board of exams and Wrc's with the Academic officer

 

 

 

Nqobile Cele - All Residence Sub-Council Chairperson
 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the residence sub-council and advocate for the interests of students living in university residences.
  • Work on housing policies, safety, and community building within residences.

 

 

 

 

Sipho Mcani - Disability Representative
 
Responsibilities:
  •  Advocate for the rights and needs of students with disabilities, ensuring accessibility and inclusion.

 

 

 

 

Fraser Dhlakama - International 雷速体育_雷速体育直播s Sub-Council Representative
 
Responsibilities:
  • Represent and support international students, addressing issues like visas, cultural integration, and academic support.

 

 

 

Mahloromela Silas Seabi - Postgraduate Association Chairperson
 
Responsibilities:
  • Lead the Postgraduate Association, focusing on postgraduate-specific issues, research opportunities, and funding.

 

 

 

Sibusiso Ngele - Postgraduate Association Representative
 
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in managing postgraduate concerns, particularly related to academic and research activities.

 

 

 

 

CarreyAnn Boshoff - Wits Sports Sub-Council Undergraduate Representative
 
Responsibilities:
  • Promote sports among undergraduate students, coordinate sports events, and represent sports interests in the SRC.

 

 

 

Tristan Wilkinson - Wits Sports Sub-Council Postgraduate Representative
 
Responsibilities:
  • Similar to the undergraduate representative but with a focus on postgraduate athletes' needs, such as balancing sports with advanced studies.
