Information Systems

Become a high-caliber Information Systems professional through this comprehensive programme.

Overview


The programme is offered part-time over two years. A blended learning approach is taken to delivery in a compulsory block release lecture format. The programme consists of a coursework component in the first year and a research component in the second year.

In the first year, candidates learn about the latest trends in information systems, organisational issues in managing information systems and advances in information systems research before proceeding to the research component in the second year.

The two key deliverables are a research proposal at the end of the first year and a research report (mini-dissertation) at the end of the second year.

Curriculum


The course has both research and coursework components. Through coursework in the first year, candidates learn about the latest trends in the information systems environment, issues in Information Systems management and advances in Information Systems research.

雷速体育_雷速体育直播s are introduced to the research process in the early stages of the course in order to formulate a research topic, and the second year of the course entails the student completing a 50% research report under faculty supervision.

Entry Requirements


  • A bachelors degree with honours in Information Systems
  • Minimum of two years relevant work experience

The following documents need to be submitted with your application: 

1. Certified copy of your degree certificates
2. Certified copy of academic transcripts as well as grade key
3. All certificates need to be transcribed to English if in another language.
4. SAQA evaluation (International applicants)
5. Proof of English proficiency (International applicants)
6. Curriculum Vitae
7. Letter of motivation
8. A brief (5-10 page) proposal outlining your area of research interest.

Once your application is complete in terms of requested documentation, your application will be referred to the relevant School for assessment. Click here to see an overview of the Wits applications process.   • Please apply online. Upload your supporting documents at the time of application, or via the Self Service Portal.
  • Applicants can monitor the progress of their applications via the Self Service Portal.
  • Selections for programmes that have a limited intake but attract a large number of applications may only finalise the application at the end of the application cycle.
