Speech-Language Pathology

The Masters of Arts in Speech-Language Pathology by research is a 1 year full-time or 2-year part-time degree.

Overview


The Masters Programme offered is research by dissertation. The programme includes a week of orientation and a series of fora/seminars throughout the registered years of study.

Curriculum


An orientation programme is scheduled for registered students with the aim of providing relevant guidance and information to support the research process.

Fora/ seminars are scheduled throughout the year with face-to-face and/or online interaction

These fora/seminars provide:

  • A platform for students to present their proposals as a requirement prior to Faculty submission
  • An opportunity for students to share the results of their research projects prior to, or after submission for examination
  • Access to additional presentations by experts in different areas of research
  • An opportunity for open discussion amongst students and research supervisors

Entry Requirements


Masters by Dissertation:

  • A bachelors degree or equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology, or Speech-Language Pathology with 65% course mark aggregate in the fourth year of study.
  • Additional entrance requirements may be considered at a departmental and faculty level.

Once your application is complete in terms of requested documentation, your application will be referred to the relevant School for assessment. Click here to see an overview of the Wits applications process.   • Please apply online. Upload your supporting documents at the time of application, or via the Self Service Portal.
  • Applicants can monitor the progress of their applications via the Self Service Portal.
  • Selections for programmes that have a limited intake but attract a large number of applications may only finalise the application at the end of the application cycle.
