All applicants to Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology are required to write the National Benchmark Test (NBT) by 18 August. Please go to www.nbt.ac.za for more information and bookings.
Only the first attempt of the NBT within the most recent year is considered, and NBT results are valid for three years. Please ensure that your ID number is correct on both your Wits application and NBT registration. We may not receive your results if your ID number is incorrect.

Health Sciences
Applicants to the Faculty of Health Sciences are required to write an In-Person, Pencil and Paper National Benchmark Test (NBT) by 18 August in order for the faculty to provide early feedback on applications. No online NBT test results will be considered. Go to www.nbt.ac.za for more information and bookings. A Job Shadowing Certificate of Attendance is required for the below degrees. Please complete and uploaded via the self-service portal:

Science
Applicants to Bachelor of Science (BSc) degrees are required to write the National Benchmark Test (NBT) by 31 October. The tests were designed to measure students’ levels of proficiency in Academic Literacy, Quantitative Literacy and Mathematics. There are two tests of three hours each. The first test is the Academic and Quantitative Literacy test (AQL), the second test is the Mathematic test (MAT).
Science applicants are required to write both these tests. Only the first attempt of the NBT is considered within the most recent year, and NBT results are valid for three years. Please ensure that your ID number is correct on both your Wits application and NBT registration. We may not receive your results if your ID number is incorrect.
